I’m pretty sure as soon as we both got the email we talked to each other about it and unanimously decided it would be amazing if we hosted a joint party.
That was the easy part!
We had tons of fun brainstorming ideas for our banana themed party!
[See our homemade sign above ^^]
I spent a good half hour pacing up and down the aisles of Party Fair and Target looking for the perfect decor.
Mary found some cute inflatable bananas and napkins on Amazon.
I’m pretty sure you can find anything on the internet these days.
Anyways, back to the bananas…
We thought it would be fun to have a basic lunch spread to start.
Them have each of our guests bring a banana inspired dish, be it sweet or savory.
We went with a hearty sandwich tray complete with turkey, roast beef and salami.
Funny story about that sliced meat, but that’s for another time.
To accompany the meat tray, we had rolls and wraps, lettuce, tomato, onion and a few cheese options.
We also thought it would be nice to have a light, leafy salad to go with everything.
[Yes that’s sunscreen hanging out with the food. Sorry, but it was HOT!]
We kept it simple and did some mixed greens tossed with grape tomatoes, red onion, cucumber and garbanzo beans.
Had a few vinaigrette options for our salad to keep it light.
I also made some of my “Not so secret anymore” hummus for everyone to snack on.
Love that stuff. I used it as a spread on my sandwich!
Ok now onto the stars of the party…
Bananas and our rock star guests!!!
Amber was super brave and brought a savory banana dish. Yes you heard right, SAVORY.
It was a delicious curried chicken and banana stew. Props to Amber!
Joanna made a banana pudding cheesecake which was TO DIE FOR!
I mean really, how can you go wrong with cheesecake?
Grayson ferverishly searched the Dole website for the perfect recipe to make for the party.
He ended up making these banana caramel bars, which turned out super yummy!!
Charlotte Food Bloggers rep-re-sent!!
[Guests Amber and Amy]
Everyone is all smiles for bananas and beloved air conditioning!
Take that mother nature!
We also made a banana flavored cocktail for the party! We decided to go with a banana pina colada!
Not only was it delicious but it cooled us off a bit too!
Paula made this simple but delicious banana bread.
Obviously it would be sacrilege to have a banana party and NOT have banana bread. Am I right?!
I decided to do a take on smore’s and make a smore’s sundae in a banana if you will.
Originally I had planned to cook them on the grill, but mother nature decided to shine a little too much on our party.
It was a flippin’ scorcher out there!!
So we took the party inside to Mary’s fabulous condo and I baked the bananas in the oven!
All you do is split a while banana in half and stuff it with whatever goodies you want. We stayed simple and did mallows and chocolate chunks.
350 degrees F for about 15-20 minutes and you get a sweet, melty, delicious treat!
Once out of the oven we topped it with a few dabs of peanut butter and Nutella.
Thanks to Dole we were able to give our guests some fabulous party swag to go home with!
The swag included: bread pans, recipe cards, banana keepers, water bottle, bottle opener, etc.
Can you say awesome?!
Thanks again Dole for giving us the opportunity to throw this party and celebrate bananas!
I’m sure everyone had a great time, no thanks to the heat!!!
Throwing this party totally made me wish I threw foodie get together and dinner parties more often. So fun!
